Egypt's Pyramids secured their second win over Masry in less than two weeks, beating them 2-0 to qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup knockout stage with two matches to spare in the group phase. Masry hardly posed any threats to Pyramids, whose easy win on Sunday contrasted with their hard-fought 2-1 victory over the same opponents late in December. Burkinabe winger Eric Traore opened the scoring after 20 minutes, bundling home on the rebound after Masry keeper Ahmed Masoud parried a tame header into his path. Veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said could have made it 2-0 shortly before the break but had his weak penalty easily collected by Masoud, who clumsily tripped Islam Eissa. Egyptian international midfielder Nabil Emad ensured the win in the 71st minute, beating the keeper at his near post with a skidding volley following a half-hearted defensive clearance. Pyramids continued their irrepressible run in their maiden appearance in an African competition, becoming the only side to win four matches out of four in both the Confederation Cup and the more illustrious Champions League. They top Group A with maximum 12 points, six clear of Masry who are also close to joining them in the last eight. Nigeria's Enugu Rangers and Mauritania's FC Nouadhibou, who drew 1-1, have two points apiece.
