A group of Jordanian football fans who were detained after a match riot in Alexandria on Sunday have been released, MENA agency reported the Jordanian ambassador to Egypt as saying. Jordanian team Al-Faisaly and Esperance of Tunisia were competing at Alexandria stadium for the Arab Club Championship. Towards the end of the game, some of the Jordanian players attacked the Egyptian referee in protest at his decisions The game ended in Esperance's victory, and there was further rioting from Jordanian fans after the end of the match. The riots resulted in damages to seats and some facilities at the stadium. Some 38 Al-Faisaly fans were arrested. Ambassador Ali Ayed thanked the Egyptian government and authorities for their cooperation, and said that the group are expected to head back to Jordan on Monday.
