The Cairo Contemporary Dance Centre will hold a festival titled “5 ra2s” (5 dances), between 13 and 19 February. The festival will showcase several dance performances, film screenings, workshops and discussions, as well as the graduation ceremony of the first generation of students of the three-year full-time professional training programme that the centre offers. The events will be held at several venues across Cairo. Founded in January 2012 by Egyptian dancer and choreographer Karima Mansour, the CCDC is an independent space for contemporary dance in Egypt, and the only contemporary dance school in Africa and the Middle East. The center, located in Mohandiseen, provides a three-year professional training programme for young dancers, performers, choreographers and teachers. Classes in a variety of dance styles are also provided for the general public.
