Egypt's press tpday discussed many important issues in the Egyptian political arena. Youm7 said Egypt's former president, Hosni Mubarak, will not attend the first session of his trial on Wednesday and will follow his trial from Sharm al-Shiekh by television. Egypt's former Vice President, Omar Soliman, occupied the second position of the electronic poll organized by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF) on its official Facebook page. Youm7 Egypt's Cabinet said in a statement that Public Prosecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud demanded officially to bring Mubarak to the headquarters of the Police Academy where his trial will be conducted on Wednesday. Youm7 learned that Mubarak will not attend the first session of his trial. A judicial source said that the defendant has the right to not attend the sessions of his trial if he is patient, stressing that the lawyer should offer the papers which proves Mubarak's inability to attend the sessions. Youm7 said also that a number of meetings were held recently between Coptic Christian leaders and leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood-affiliated Freedom and Justice Party. The meetings were attended by a representative of al-Azhar. The meeting aimed at reaching according points about Egypt's future. The two sides agreed to support al-Azhar's document as an according document especially as it supports the principles of citizenship and equality and offers enough guarantees to establish a civil democratic state. Al-Ahram In an important development, the April 6 movement and 26 other political parties and coalitions decided to suspend their strike in Tahrir Square until the end of Ramadan to provide PM Essam Sharaf's government and the ruling military council with the suitable opportunity to deal positively with the demands of Egypt's revolution. The Higher Judicial Council approved the first part of the judicial movement which included appointments in different positions of the Court of Appeal. The movement included the promotion of 45 judges. The judicial movement is the first since the Jan. 25 Revolution. Al-Akhbar Soliman has replaced potential presidential candidate Mohamed Seleim al-Awa in the second position in the electronic poll organized by the SCAF. He obtained 17 percent of the votes. The chairman of the Cairo University, Hossam Kamel, said that the deans of the faculties who will not end their term on July 31 will continue in their positions until drafting the new rules on the basis of which the new leaders of the universities will be chosen. Al-Masry al-Youm Al-Masry al-Youm reported that the demonstrators of Tahrir prepare for potential clashes with shop owners in Tahrir who want to evacuate the square. Violent clashes erupted yesterday between the demonstrators and the owners of the shops. Egypt's Public Prosecutor Abdel Magid Mahmoud demanded Egypt's Interior Minister, Mansour el-Issawy, bring Mubarak and other former officials to appear before the court to attend their trial on Wednesday. Al-Shorouq Gen. Mohsen al-Fangary, member of the SCAF, said that the martyrs' families fund is the only authority authorized to deal with the families of the martyrs, stressing that the state is responsible for these families and will provide them with social care. Egypt's Mufti, Ali Gomaa, congratulated the Muslims of Ramadan demanding them to seize the opportunity to cooperate with those people who need help and supporting them to transcend their problems.
