Bruno Metsu has stepped down as Al-Wasl coach due to an unknown illness, the Emirate club said. Metsu, who brought Egypt winger Shikabala from Zamalek, has been hospitalized for several with an undisclosed illness rumored to be cancer. The Frenchman has been in the Wasl post for less than four months after he had replaced Diego Maradona back in July. Al-Wasl said that Metsu's assistant Gilles Morisseau will take over on a temporary basis. Metsu leaves Al-Wasl in fourth place in the league, only two points adrift of leaders Al-Nasr.
