Ahmed Hassan has given Zamalek until the end of August to respond to his transfer request following the board's failure to pay his overdue wages. The veteran midfielder had announced his intention to part ways with the Cairo giants last month as he has been awaiting their approval to rescind his contract ever since. He had earlier revealed that he will join Belgian side Lierse before the summer transfer window shuts on August 31. “I gave the Zamalek board some time till the end of this month to respond to my transfer request," the 37-year-old Hassan told FilGoal.com on Wednesday. “The summer transfer window in Europe closes on 31 August and I am expecting a reply from Zamalek ahead of that date." Hassan, who joined Zamalek from arch-rivals Ahli last season on a free transfer, revealed recently that he hasn't been paid since signing for the beleaguered Cairo club. Should he complete his move to the Egyptian-owned Lierse, the Egypt captain would be there for another spell in Belgium after a successful two-year stint with Anderlecht.
