Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi on Saturday called on his government to step up efforts to cut debt servicing costs and reinforce fiscal discipline, measures he said would improve the economy's performance, support development, and ensure enhanced social justice. At a meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly and Finance Minister Ahmed Kouchouk, the president called for closer partnerships between government agencies and the private sector and the adoption of a balanced fiscal policy to drive growth and maintain stability. President Sisi also directed continued efforts to secure a primary budget surplus, alongside increased allocations for social protection programmes such as the Takaful and Karama cash transfers, and higher spending on health and education. "These steps are vital to easing burdens on citizens and advancing social justice," President Sisi said, according to the presidency statement.
