Egypt goalkeeper Ahmed Al-Shennawi has joined Zamalek on a season-long loan from Masri, the Cairo club said. The 21-year-old, who is currently Egypt's second choice in goal, signed a one-year deal on Wednesday and is expected to be added to the Whites' Champions League roster. He will face competition from captain Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed, who has been a regular for Zamalek for more than a decade. “The presence of Abdul-Wahed is not a problem. He is a veteran keeper and I will surely learn from him on and off the pitch,” Al-Shennawi told FilGoal.com. “I came here to help Zamalek even if I will be on the bench. “Me, Abdul-Wahed and (Mahmoud Abdul-Rahim) ‘Gennesh' will do our best to protect Zamalek's goal.” Al-Shennawi had an unsuccessful trial at Real Betis earlier this summer as he declared that Zamalek will be his second option should the Europe move failed. The highly-rated keeper is expected to be between the posts when Egypt take part in this summer's Olympic Games in London next month.
