Zamalek reserve goalkeeper Mahmoud Abdul-Monem 'Gennesh' is set to be handed the no.1 short in the Champions League game against Maghreb de Fes, following the suspension of skipper Abdul-Wahed Al-Sayed. Abdul-Wahed, who has been the Whites first choice keeper for more than a decade, has been ruled out after picking his second yellow card in the 2-1 loss at Africa Sports in the competition's round of 32 return leg. Now the Cairo giants will have to turn to the inexperienced Gennesh, who is set for his continental debut game after joining last year from second-tier Olympic. “We have confidence in Gennesh and that he will be able to fill the void left by Abdul-Wahed,” Assistant manager Ismail Youssef told Filgoal.com. “Maghreb de Fes are a strong team but Gennesh is able to live up to the occasion.” Gennesh, 27, is the only senior custodian at Hassan Shehata's disposal following last year's departure of Egypt number one Essam Al-Hadari. He only featured in a couple of games for Zamalek before, including a friendly match against Atletico Madrid back in November 2011. Zamalek visit Morocco's Fes by the end of April for the first leg.
