Zamalek and Egypt full-back Mohamed Abdul-Shafi has gone AWOL as club officials are failing to reach him, the Whites said on Monday. Abdul-Shafi was expected to feature in a practice match with Zamalek on Monday, but the club's website said that he failed to show up. “Abdul-Shafi did not attend the match today and we are trying to find him but we couldn't. It makes us very anxious,” Zamalek assistant coach Ismail Youssef told the club's website. “We will keep on trying to reach him to make sure he is OK.” Abdul-Shafi was one of several Zamalek players who threatened to leave the club over unpaid wages throughout the past year. The 26-year-old is regarded as Egypt's first-choice left-back in the meantime.
