A group of fans broke into the empty stands of Cairo Stadium as play was halted for minutes in Zamalek's league game with Police Union. Hosts Zamalek were ordered to play the game behind closed doors as a result of their fans' persistent use of fireworks in previous matches. But the Whites' fans showed no yielding as tens of young supporters came out of nowhere with lighted canisters to interrupt the game after six minutes. The intrusion scene accidentally coincided with a penalty for Zamalek, successfully converted by Ahmed Hassan for the only goal of the first half Referee Mohamed Farouk halted play for a few minutes but eventually resumed the game when fans swiftly ran away, following calls from Zamalek players to end the raid. The Egyptian FA warned clubs who are hosting games behind closed doors that they would lose the match points in case their fans appeared inside the stadium.
