Egypt have produced a praiseworthy display against England despite their 3-1 friendly defeat at Wembley on Wednesday, striker Amr Zaki said. The Pharaohs went to the locker room with a 1-0 lead, thanks to a goal from lively striker Mohamed Zidan. They could not hold onto their advantage in the second half, with England roaring back in superb fashion after the introduction of towering striker Peter Crouch and winger Shaun Wright-Philips. Two goals from Crouch and one from Wright-Philips, who was a constant menace down the right flank, gave England a convincing victory. "We lost the midfield battle in the second half, we couldn't maintain our superb display before the break," Hull City frontman Zaki, who replaced Emad Meteb in the 65th minute, said after the game. "But my overall assessment is that we showed the whole world how good we are, I'm very proud." Midfielder Hossam Ghaly believes Egypt were punished for easing off in the second period. "Against such a strong team, one can't afford to lose concentration," Ghaly, who plays for Saudi side Nassr, said.
