Egyptian-born Qatari winger Hussein Yasser said he regrets joining Ahli after finding it difficult to break into the team's starting line-up. "I rejected some tempting offers because I was eager to play for Ahli, but the club did not appreciate me," Yasser told CNN Arabic on Thursday. Yasser joined the Egyptian champions in the summer of 2008 on a free transfer after his contract with Portuguese side Sporting Braga expired. The 25-year-old was tipped for big things and was dubbed as 'Mohamed Barakat's successor' because his style is similar to that of the mercurial midfielder. He hardly featured for Ahli though and was consistently left out of the team's squad for the Egyptian Premier League games last season. He opted to stay put in the close season, boosted by the appointment of Hossam Al-Badri as the head coach following the resignation of Portuguese Manuel Jose. However, Yasser, who usually makes late substitute appearances, has yet to prove his worth. "I'm not inferior to Barakat and (playmaker) Mohamed Abou-Treika, I'm capable of playing on a regular basis," he commented. "I'm now just thinking about leaving Ahli, I'm under huge psychological pressure because I don't play."
