Former Olympic manager Abdul-Rahim Mohamed will be appointed as Zamalek's assistant coach, FilGoal.com has learnt. The Cairo club rejected new coach Henri Michel's request to bring in Moroccan Samir Ajam, who was the Frenchman's assistant at South Africa's Mamelodi Sundowns. "We did not want a foreign assistant because there are many Zamalek icons who can play this role," a club official, who refused to be named, told FilGoal.com on Friday. "We just appointed Frenchman Florent Motta in the technical staff because he is a fitness expert." Abdul-Rahim steered Olympic to Premier League promotion in 2008 but resigned from his post shortly afterwards. He did not manage a top-flight team. The new technical staff will be in charge of Zamalek for the first time when they meet Ittihad, who also named new manager in Brazilian Carlos Cabral, in the Egyptian Premier League next Thursday.
