Villarreal coach Manuel Pellegrini believes his side deserved a win over Arsenal in Tuesday's clash in the Champions League quarter-final first leg. The Spanish side were leading 1-0 at home until an acrobatic strike by Emmanuel Adebayor in the 66th minute gave Arsenal the edge. "On the balance of play over the 90 minutes it's an unfair result," Pellegrini commented on the 1-1 draw at El Madrigal. "We created four clear scoring opportunities during the first half alone, and Arsenal had just the one which they scored from." Villarreal, who reached the Champions League semi final in 2006, will need to score at Emirates Stadium if they are to cause an upset and book a last-four berth. A victory over Arsenal or a high-scoring draw would send them through. "The tie is level, although theoretically they have an advantage as they're playing at home next," Pellegrini said. "To me this isn't an advantage as it is the best team who will go through to the semi-finals." Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger was full of praise for his side, who lost defender William Gallas and goalkeeper Manuel Almunia to injury in the first half. "This team has shown the whole season they are mentally very strong," the Frenchman stated. "When they have their backs to the wall, these young players always find an answer which is very interesting for a young team. I believe we have created momentum."
