Benitez denies Silva interest
Published in FilGoal on 27 - 03 - 2009

Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez refuted claims that the Reds are planning to sign Valencia midfielder David Silva at the end of the season.
The 23-year-old was linked with a move to Anfield a while back, and Valencia's financial problems suggested they could sell the Spain winger in the summer.
But loud and clear was Benitez's denial of his alleged interest in Silva.
"We will not be signing him," Benitez told Liverpool's official website when asked about the prospect of landing Silva in a close-season deal.
With Fernando Torres and David Ngog the only bona fide strikers in their ranks, Liverpool are widely expected to bolster their frontline with newcomers in the near future.
"We are working hard, talking with the scouting department and looking at names and options for next season," the Spanish coach added.
"It's still too soon, but we are working hard."
Message
Benitez was humble about his side's chances of claiming the Premier League title this season, despite being only one point behind leaders Manchester United.
"Football can change very quickly and that is why we say it is important to just take one game at a time," he said.
"Everything can change each week and maybe next week we can be at the top again."
He also urged Liverpool fans to remain optimistic and confident of their club's potential.
"My message to the fans is to keep calm. I can see the people have a lot of confidence at the moment and that is good. We have to stay positive and see what happens," he concluded.
