Liverpool boss Rafael Benitez agreed a new four-year deal for $17.37 million that will see him extending his stay at Anfield till 2010, The Guardian said on Thursday. The British paper reported that Benitez's agent Manuel Garcia held talks with Liverpool chief executive Rick Parry before Fulham match on Wednesday. The 45-year-old manager, who guided Liverpool to the UEFA Champions League title last season, was linked to return to his homeland Spain next season. He was reportedly targeted by Spanish giants Real Madrid who search for a high-profile manager to take over from caretaker boss Lopez Caro. Benitez had a successful spell in Spain before moving to England as he steered Valencia to the local league and the UEFA Cup titles.
