Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas has vowed to fulfill the club's financial obligations even if he was to leave his post. The club's board election was due to be held on Friday, but a court ruling postponed it for an indefinite period. The court said that former Zamalek chairman Mortada Mansour should have the right to be nominated as a candidate for the presidential seat, despite being suspended by the club's board. It remains to be seen whether Abbas could remain in charge of Zamalek until a definite date for the elections is set. However, the long-serving Zamalek fan pledged to back the club financially regardless of his position. "I will pay the players' salaries and fund the team's new transfers," Abbas told Al-Hayat TV. "I will also pay Shikabala's fine because he must be available for selection when his ban ends." Zamalek's talented winger Shikabala was banned for six months and handed a 990,000 euros fine for joining the Cairo giants without PAOK Saloniki's approval last year.
