Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas has announced on Saturday that he will leave his post on the ninth of August due to health problems. "The ninth of August will be my last day with Zamalek," Abbas said in a press conference held to celebrate Zamalek's basketball team league triumph. Abbas has been appointed by the Egyptian Higher Council of Sports (HCS) as Zamalek chairman in August 2006 after former president Mortada Mansour was relieved of his duties. The life-long Zamalek fan's injection of cash was pivotal in helping the club in their rebuilding process after enduring three seasons trophyless. The Cairo giants have reached an agreement with Turkey's Rizespor to sign their former defender Beshir Al-Tabie and captured Masri's highly-rated defender Karim Zekri. New elections will take place on September for a new board of directors but Abbas has confirmed that no more Zamalek role in his life. "The past period was very tensed and my health can't help me continue in this atmosphere," he concluded.
