Zamalek chairman Mamdouh Abbas is set for another spell that should keep him with the Cairo club until September 2008 after Egyptian Higher Council of Sports president Hassan Saqr accepted his extension. Zamalek announced in a statement on Monday that Saqr re-selected the current Zamalek president, rather than starting an election process for a new presidential seat on September 2007. However, the decision was not welcomed by former Zamalek chairman Kamal Darwish, who objected the method of selecting the club's chairman. "It is inappropriate to have a selected chairman for two successive years, Abbas should have entered an election process, just like I did before," Darwish told FilGoal.com. Abbas was selected as Zamalek president last year in place of previous chairman Mortada Mansour, who had his fair share of problems with the previous board. Abbas claimed a few months ago that he is not willing to remain in charge of the white club due to personal reasons, but it seems he has now settled for a new spell.
