Barcelona are ready to sacrifice Samuel Eto'o in order to sign Inter Milan's versatile defender Cristian Chivu, according to Calcio Italia magazine. The Catalans may tempt Inter Milan to sell the Romanian defender by offering Cameroonian prolific striker Eto'o in return. Eto'o is apparently one of the key players set to depart the Nou Camp as a part of a squad overhaul prompted by Barcelona's failure to win silverware for the second successive season. New coach Pep Guardiola, who succeeded Dutchman Frank Rijkaard, will be looking to strengthen his defensive options. Argentinean centre back Gabriel Milito failed to impress in the heart of Barca's back-line since his arrival from Real Zaragoza last summer. Defender Chivu, who can also operate in midfield, may be the solution for the team's shortage of reliable men at the back.
