Zamalek move up to second place
Published in FilGoal on 29 - 03 - 2008

Zamalek climbed to second spot in the Egyptian League table after coming from behind to beat Al-Gaish 2-1 at Military Academy on Saturday.
The Cairo giants fell behind to Yassin Abdul-Aal's early strike for the visitors.
Abdul-Aal rushed to salute a banner featuring a picture of Al-Gaish midfielder Ibrahim Adawi, who died after a car crash on Thursday.
Zamalek managed to overturn the deficit in the second-half, thanks to two strikes from Mohamed Aboul-Ella and Shikabala.
The result put Zamalek in second place with 37 points, one ahead of Al-Gaish and Petrojet, who both have a game in hand.
The men in white are looking to finish as runners-up in order to play in the Champions League next season as Ahli have virtually guaranteed a fourth successive league title.
Stunning Opener
Ahmed Ghanem's ill-positioning helped Al-Gaish players beat the offside trap to open the scoring after eight minutes.
A deflected shot went into the path of Abdul-Aal, whose low shot went in at the near post as Ghanem was caught napping after failing to run forward with the rest of his teammates.
Zamalek wasted numerous chances afterwards to level the score due to the forwards' poor finishing.

Aboul-Ella scored the equalizer
In the 11th minute, talented winger Shikabala gathered a loose ball inside the area but his close-range shot was parried by Al-Gaish keeper Gharib Hafez.
A pinpoint cross by Osama Hassan picked out Mostafa Gaafar midway through the first-half but the striker's header went over the bar.
Shikabala produced some dazzling moves and provided two inch-perfect crosses for the below-par Sherif Ashraf, who failed to head goalwards on both occasions.
Storming Back
Zamalek's pressure paid dividends in the 57th minute after Aboul-Ella finally notched the equalizer.
Gaafar held the ball long enough to give Aboul-Ella an opportunity to burst into Al-Gaish area before providing him a pass across goal.
Aboul-Ella fired into the roof of the net to give Zamalek the equalizer. Al-Gaish have only themselves to blame for leaving huge gaps in their backline.
Gaafar was also the architect of Zamalek's second goal after his cross from the right found the unmarked Shikabala, who made no mistake from close range.
Military club Al-Gaish pushed forward to restore parity but had several efforts blocked by Zamalek's in-form keeper Mohamed Abdul-Monsef.
