Hossam Ghaly made his Derby County debut in the 1-0 home defeat to Wigan Athletic on Saturday. The Egyptian midfielder, who joined just hours before the game, was chasing shadows through out the game as he lacked harmony with his new teammates. His debut highlight was a fierce tackle on Antonio Valencia in the 24th minute, with Wigan players demanding a red card for him. But referee Mark Clattenburg was in a charitable mood as he talked to Ghaly calmly without even handing up a caution. Derby gave yet another reason for why they are the strongest relegation candidates, as they looked helpless before more than 31.000 of their fans. They never threatened and appeared waiting for the final nail in their coffin and it came in the 81st minute. Substitute Antoine Sibierski unleashed a low shot home to condemn the Premier League basement side to their 16th defeat of the season. Derby have just seven points from 22 games, eight points adrift of second-from-bottom Fulham.
