Title holders Ahli host Sudanese club Hilal in the other group game later on Sunday. Saber Khalifa almost put the hosts in front after 18 minutes but his low long-range shot was denied by the post. Seven minutes later, Hicham Aboucheroune misdirected cross from a free-kick in the right struck the bar. ASEC dominated the second-half and tried to grab a stunning opener but settled for a valuable draw away from home.
