Saudi champions Al-Shabab kicked off their AFC Champions League campaign with 2-0 victory over UAE side Al-Ain at the Khalifa bin Zayed stadium on Wednesday. Ghanaian striker Godwin Attram put the visitors in front two minutes before the interval and Waleed Al-Jeezani sealed the victory in the 72nd minute as Al-Shabab grabbed their first win in Group B. Egyptian defender Amir Azmi came on as a substitute seven minutes later and played as a defensive midfielder. In other Group B match, Iranian side Sepahan came from behind to edge past Syria's Ittihad 2-1 at home. Anas Sari broke the deadlock in the 12th minute but a brace from Mohamad Salehi in the 19th and 29th minutes helped Sepahan claim a winning start. Al-Shabab are on top of the group with three points, ahead of Sepahan on goal difference.
