Georgian defender Kakha Kaladze scored in the second half to give Italian giants AC Milan a 1-0 derby victory over city rivals Inter in the Italian Serie A on Friday. Kaladze secured the hard-fought victory in the 70th minute to deepen Inter's misery who were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals at the hands of Spanish side Villarreal. The victory put Milan in second place of the Serie A table with 76 points, five ahead of second-placed Inter and four behind leaders Juventus, who play Cagliari on Saturday. The match witnessed rare scoring opportunities in the first half as both sides played with a strong defensive display. Unmarked striker Alberto Gilardino almost grabbed the lead for Milan in the 16th minute when he met Cafu's inch-perfect cross with a close-range header that went wide. After the re-start, Dutch midfielder Clarence Seedorf had a low shot blocked by Inter Brazilian keeper Julio Cesar before Luis Figo wasted a glorious chance to put Inter in front when he connected with Dejan Stankovic's cross but his header went embarrassingly wide. Kaladze secured the precious win in the 70th minute when he brilliantly chested Seedorf's cross before blasting a powerful shot into the back of the net.
