Enppi's first appearance in the African Champions League came to an early end on Sunday as they lost to Ethiopian champions St. George 1-0 and exit the tournament from its preliminaries. Benjamin Asfa scored the winner for the hosts in the 25th minute through a powerful long-range shot that left keeper Mostafa Kamal helpless. Despite that St. George were reduced to ten men on the hour mark, Enppi failed to benefit from the numerical advantage and their attempts to grab the equalizer were kept at bay. The first leg ended in a goalless draw in Cairo two weeks ago. Enppi made their African debut this year after finishing runners-up in the Egyptian League and winning the Egyptian Cup last season. African and Egyptian Champions Ahli advanced automatically to the next round and yet to open their title defense campaign.
