Roma break Italian record for consecutive wins
Published in FilGoal on 27 - 02 - 2006

AS Roma broke the previous Italian record for consecutive wins of 10 matches, with their 11th victory that saw them beat Lazio 2-0 in the Serie A derby that took place on Sunday.
Rodrigo Taddei opened the score for Roma in the 31st minute before Alberto Aquilani sealed his side's victory three minutes past the hour-mark.
With this victory, Roma rewrote the entire Italian football history as the team with the most consecutive victories, with a possibility of setting even new records if they maintain their winning-streak,
The historical match witnessed Roma play without skipper Francesco Totti who picked up a serious injury that might see him sidelined for at least two months.
Taddei put Roma upfront after connecting with a Mancini cross and headed the ball straight into the back of the Lazio net in the 31st minute.
Aquilani doubled Roma's lead and sealed their victory after picking up an Amantino Mancini intervention with the Lazio defence and eased the ball with side-footed shot.
Roma also celebrated leapfrogging Fiorentina into fourth place with a tally of 54 points, only one spot away from the final qualification ticket to next season's UEFA Champions League.
