Arsenal veteran striker Dennis Bergkamp said on Friday that he can feature against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League on Tuesday if coach Arsene Wenger wants to field him. The 36-year-old Dutchman rarely played with Arsenal outside England in European competitions due to his scare of flying but he is ready to make the trip to Spain by road. "I am prepared to go but it's up to the boss. I am just happy to play in any game but I can't talk about games in Europe when I am not even playing at home," Bergkamp was quoted as saying BBC Sport. Arsenal will travel to Spain to face the nine-time European champions Real Madrid in the UCL last-16 clash on Tuesday.
Wenger should decide wheather he needs Bergkamp or not The UCL is the last chance for the 'Gunners' to bring any silverware to the Highbury this season after being eliminated from the FA Cup and League Cup. Bergkamp believes a goal in the Santiago Bernabeu could prove vital to his side's chances of progressing to the quarter final. "It's important we get a goal in the Bernabeu. If we score then we know we have a great chance in the return leg at Highbury," he said. "If we can do that then we have a very good chance of going through," he added. Bergkamp played 23 matches for Arsenal this season mostly as a substitute, netting only twice.
