Mohamed Abdul-Shafi has once again ruled himself out of Egypt's World Cup qualifier against Guinea due to family problems. The FA said on its website that the Zamalek full-back has been allowed to leave the team's camp following a meeting with manager Bob Bradley. Abdul-Shafi asked to skip the Guinea game on September 10, claiming that he is being ‘distracted by family problems'. The 28-year-old's act raises a few eyebrows as he was similarly ruled out of several international games during the past couple of years. Back in June, Abdul-Shafi was declared injured just ahead of Egypt's World Cup qualifiers against Zimbabwe and Mozambique, even though he was fit to represent Zamalek before and after the fixtures. The ex-Ghazl Mahalla defender has also pulled out of a couple of friendlies before, including high-profile meetings against Brazil and Chile. He played three competetive games under Bradley's management, including two World Cup qualifying wins over Mozambique and Guinea. Abdul-Shafi's exit leaves Ahli pair Sayed Moawad and Ahmed Shedid to vie for the left-back slot against Guinea.
