Zamalek have advanced to the Egypt Cup round of 16 with a 3-0 victory over second-division Tersana. All goals came in the first half as Cameroonian midfielder Alexis Mendomo scored his maiden Zamalek goal in what was a highly-controversial opener Ahmed Eid doubled the lead before Ahmed Magdi sealed the win with a late first-half penalty. First-half blitz Zamalek were in front after just 10 minutes when Mendomo, who appeared to be offside, volleyed home clinically. Ten minutes later it was two when Eid merited on a fortunate run to avoid the attentions of some five defenders before dinking past the keeper with aplomb. Just before half time, another controversial moment saw the referee rule out a penalty claim for Tersana when former Ahli midfielder Ahmed Hassan appeared to be tackled in the box. Only seconds later, a penalty was awarded for a handball at the other end of the pitch, with Magdi converting home the third for Zamalek. The eventless second half saw Zamalek boss Jorvan Vieira hand rare appearances to fringe duo Saied Mohamed and Youssef Hassan. Tersana never recovered from the hectic first half as Zamalek advanced to the last 16.
