EGYPT'S First Lady Mrs Suzanne Mubarak met Tuesday night with junior teachers, who have completed a course on promoting the culture of peace and tolerance in Egyptian schools. The course, offered by the Suzanne Mubarak Women's International Peace Movement, aims to train male and female teachers on how to bring about a higher consciousness among the school children about the importance of peace and tolerance at the global and local levels. Mrs Mubarak attended an open debate with the trainees and stressed their role in promoting the culture of peace and tolerance in schools. She also stressed that the Government launched a comprehensive project for building more schools and educational facilities nationwide to ensure every child has access to good quality education. The project also aims at developing basic schooling with a focus on facility building and teachers' re-training. Mrs Mubarak said that she launched the 100 school initiative that would focus on the quality of education, making sure that students are equipped with what they need for the labour market needs now to meet economic development challenges.
