CAIRO – A truck carrying diesel fuel went ablaze while discharging the fuel in Boulaq el-Dakrour, in Giza, the official Middle East News Agency reported on Wednesday. The truck which was carrying 15,000 litres exploded after discharging 5,000 at a petrol station in Boulaq el-Dakrour, according to eyewitnesses. They said that the citizens of the area and petrol station workers managed to put out the fire with the help of fire fighters saving the station from a likely catastrophe. A fuel crisis has hit the country for almost a week now. Long queues of lorries and buses are seen daily outside petrol stations across the country. The shortage is partially attributed to the cut of diesel imports. Diesel is used on a large scale by different means of transportation, agricultural machinery and bakeries in rural areas and red brick kilns.
