CAIRO, Sept 21, 2018 (MENA) - The Head of the National Council for Women (NCW) Maya Morsi stressed that Egypt is ready to help the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights ACHPR with the women rights' file. She was speaking at a meeting with ACHPR Chairperson Soyata Maiga, currently visiting Egypt. Morsi probed with Maiga joint cooperation and how to benefit from the Egyptian experience in the field of improving the status of women in the African continent and combating poverty among them. The NCW head underlined that there will be cooperation with the African Union in implementing a number of activities to improve the status of women during Egypt's presidency to the union at its 31st session in 2019. Morsi further noted the important role of women in maintaining stability and uprooting terrorism, referring to the President Abdel Fattah El Sisi's declaration of 2017 as the year of the Egyptian woman. For her part, Maiga hailed the support the women have from the Egyptian leadership, noting that combating poverty tops the African agenda to eradicate extremism. She expressed keenness on benefiting from the Egyptian expertise in empowering women.
