Egypt's Ministry of Social Solidarity said it will organise the country's first nationwide mass iftar on Arafat Day, set to serve 70,000 people across 25 governorates on Thursday, in partnership with Misr El Kheir Foundation. The move aims to spread joy and unity during the spiritual occasion ahead of Eid al-Adha, fostering values of compassion and social cohesion, the ministry said in a statement on Wednesday. Meals will be distributed in 60 villages and at 15 designated sites across 10 additional governorates, with 2,000 meals allocated to mobile distribution points. The event marks the latest in a series of large-scale social support initiatives led by the ministry. During Ramadan, the government and civil society groups delivered 100 million meals under the Beyot El Mahrousa (Houses of the Protected) Initiative, including food boxes, communal tables, and household deliveries.
