Egypt seeks to achieve integration with Africa in energy field: Electricity Ministry
Published in Daily News Egypt on 17 - 04 - 2019

Since taking over the presidency of the African Union (AU), Egypt has been actively working on a comprehensive vision to achieve integration among African countries, especially in the energy field, Egypt's Electricity Ministry spokesperson, Ayman Hamza, said.
He told DNE that the second ordinary session of the African Union (AU) Specialized Technical Committee on Transport, Transcontinental and Interregional Infrastructure, Energy, and Tourism (STC-TTIIET), hosted by Egypt on 14-18 April, aims to achieve the comprehensive development of African countries.
Hamza added that Egypt has a wide experience in traditional or renewable energy that it can provide to African countries, and that everyone is witnessing the achievements made by Egypt in several fields, particularly energy and renewable energy.
Africa has a great deal of resources, both natural and human, which qualifies it to be in a very high position, and that the world believes it has a promising future, he explained.
Furthermore, Hamza pointed out that the STC-TTIIET committee is interested in seeing what has been accomplished in the past, and developing strategies for the coming period, particularly in terms of infrastructure, transport, energy, and tourism. This is in addition to making recommendations to be discussed through the meetings of the AU to be translated into economic or commercial strategies.
The second ordinary session was organised in cooperation with the AU Commission, the AU Development Agency (NEPAD), the African Development Bank, and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa.
Over 500 participants attended the meeting, including ministers of transport, energy, and tourism; expert groups from regional economic communities; development banks; financial institutions; specialised continental organisations; international organisations; academia, business, and civil society organisations from all over the continent.
