Tahya Misr Fund's executive committee prioritises supporting 5 fields next year
Developing slums, nurseries, virus C treatment, women empowerment, youth employment, with allocation of percentage for special needs individuals in each field

The executive committee of the Tahya Misr Fund has held a meeting in the presence of Sahar Nasr, the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation; Major General Mohamed Amin Ibrahim, the fund head; Mohamed Ashmawy, the fund's executive manager; Ali Gomaa, member of the fund's executive committee; and Atef Abdel Hameed, the governor of Cairo.
Nasr stressed the importance of the executive committee's work plan for next year and prioritising certain fields compared to others, and within this framework the committee agreed on the five most important fields: developing slums, treating virus C patients, developing nurseries, empowering women, and helping the employment of youth, while paying special attention to women and those with special needs in each field.
The meeting discussed the housing situation of Al Asmarat's 1, 2, and 3 neighbourhoods.
Nasr stressed the importance of having a database that identifies the citizens living in slums aimed to be developed by Cairo governorate, pointing out that the committee is keen on supporting Al Asmarat project and benefitting from the fund's resources to support that project with carrying out a survey of the actual number of citizens living in slum areas to consider moving them to Al Asmarat's neighbourhoods.
During the meeting, it was agreed that the governor of Cairo will continue the plan for settlement in Asmarat neighbourhoods and presenting it to the executive committee of Tahya Misr Fund during the upcoming meeting. A technical committee formed from the Cairo governorate and the fund will be formed in order to develop slums and create a database about citizens living in slum areas and were moved to the first phase of A Asmarat.
The meeting looked into future cooperation with the Ministry of Social Solidarity regarding the ratification of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi to allocate an amount of EGP 250m to be used to support working women who support their families and fund micro-enterprises in cooperation with Nasser Social Bank.
The executive committee of the fund has discussed the medical survey plan for virus C and treating patients in six governorates and six public universities during the period from October 2017 to December 2019.
Ashmawy explained that the fund prepared a timeline to carry out the medical survey in the delta region: the area with the largest number of cases, including Menoufia, Sharqiya, Gharbeya, Beheira, Kafr Al-Sheikh, and Alexandria, where the survey targets about 15.2 million people with a cost of EGP 263.3m. The six public universities are Minya, Sohag, Alexandria, Assiut, Sadat, and Menoufia, where about 319,000 students are targeted with a cost of EGP 5.9m. Ashmawy noted that the estimated cost to treat a virus C patient is EGP 1,365.
The committee agreed to allocate 30 trucks to transport five tonnes for the Ministry of Supply in order to contribute to bridging the gap between deficit in the fleet of food transport vehicles, where a large number of young people will be employed directly to drive those trucks.
Samy Abdel Aziz, the fund's media adviser, has showcased the developments of the proposed promotion plan for the fund, which aims to highlight the most prominent activities the fund contributed to and its efforts to improve citizens' living conditions as well as eliminate virus C and provide young people with jobs, as well as develop slums and deal with crises.
The show included a plan for the digital media campaign to work on increasing the fund's resources to enable it to continue its contributions. The campaign targets Egyptians abroad and the civil society. In conclusion, the minister stressed the importance of highlighting the social role of the fund.
