Published in Daily News Egypt on 20 - 04 - 2015

Prime Minister Ibrahim Mehleb met with the Tahya Masr Fund's executive committee, agreeing for the Fund to provide EGP 10m to the Ministry of Environment, according to a cabinet statement Sunday.
The ministry's cash injection will be used for the installation of the necessary environmental sensors in industrial facilities that dump into the river Nile, in compliance with the environmental regulations.
Mehleb formed an executive committee with the Tahya Masr Fund Saturday, headed by Investment Minister Ashraf Salman. Other members include General Mohamed Amin Ibrahim Nasr, Former Grand Mufti Ali Gomaa, and businessmen Mohamed Al-Amin and Naguib Sawiris.
The committee handles overseeing, planning, following up, monitoring and supervising all the Fund's work, as well as measuring, monitoring and evaluating the Fund's performance rates and that of its staff.
The Tahya Masr Fund was formed at the invitation of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, with the support of Egyptian businessmen, to contribute to the implementation of development projects.
The meeting resulted in prioritising three national projects to be implemented during 2015. These include a project for the eliminating of Hepatitis C; a homeless children project; and a project supporting low-income areas in Manshiet Nasser, according to cabinet spokesperson Hossam Al-Kawish.
During the meeting, an agreement was reached concerning the fund's initiative to launch an expanding campaign, in order to defeat Hepatitis C and its spread in Egypt.
According to the cabinet report, the Ministry of Social Solidarity is trying to find solutions to the problem of homeless children.
The new plan for the second phase of the project aiming to develop Manshiet Naser was discussed. The project aims to rescue residents who live in the most dangerous areas. The project was discussed and planned between the Minister of Urban Development and the Cairo governorate.
Development projects, concerning the areas of Ezbet Al-Assal, Girgis and Warshet Saman in Shubra, as well as slum areas in Al-Dwika, were also discussed.
Al-Kawish said the Fund is implementing development plans, rehabilitating some hospitals, especially in Upper Egypt, developing 20 emergency units, and developing as well as improving some schools. On the other hand, the Fund does not include spending on facilities.
The Fund fulfils the needs in order to accomplish development, especially for the South Egypt Cancer Institute – Assiut University, which serves eight governorates located in Upper Egypt, including 22 million citizens.
