The Tahya Misr Fund's executive committee held a meeting on Tuesday, including the Minister of Investment and International Cooperation, Sahar Nasr, who chairs the committee; executive director of the fund, Mohamed Ashmawy; general-secretary of the fund, Mohamed Amin; and Ali Gomaa, a member of the committee.
The meeting discussed cooperation between the fund and the investors willing to support the fund and the launch of a promotional campaign with a number of banks and non-banking financial entities. They also tackled the launch of an urgent development plan worth EGP 320m in Aswan. It comes in line with President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi's instructions during the youth conference in Aswan to accomplish all development projects in Nasr Al-Nubia district and Wadi Karkar area before June 2018.
The development plan in Nasr Al-Nubia is worth EGP 170m and includes housing units, drinking water, and sanitation projects. The fund's executive committee agreed to direct the rest of the allocated funds to social projects, such as healthcare and hospitals.
The meeting also reviewed the fund's future plan in the coming period, including the launch of new initiatives in different development fields.
They also discussed the allocation of EGP 250m to support women in cooperation with the Nasser Social Bank (NSB), upon President Al-Sisi's instructions.
The executive committee approved during its meeting with the National Council for Women's initiative to provide ID cards for women in the most needy areas in a number of governorates to help them receive social aids, insurance, pensions, and subsidised commodities. The Tahya Misr Fund decided to support youth projects in the New Valley governorate, through providing 20 truck refrigerators to transport frozen goods to remote areas in the governorate.
Nasr announced that the fund will provide ATM cards for breadwinner women in cooperation with the NSB to facilitate receiving financial aids.
Ashmawy said that the fund will allocate EGP 168m for the North Sinai governorate, including EGP 97m for engineering and infrastructure projects, EGP 16m to develop Al-Arish Hospital, and EGP 5m for displaced people as well as EGP 50m to support the relief fund in the governorate.
Ashmawy revealed that the family of Egyptian actor Ahmed Ramzi decided to sell his personal pistol in a public auction and allocate its price for the fund.
