Ahly advance after Al-Tahrir withdrawal

CAIRO: Ahly have advanced to the CAF Champions League round of 16 after Eritrean opponents Al-Tahrir withdrew from the competition on Saturday.
CAF have received a fax from Al-Tahrir confirming their withdrawal from this year s Champions League, CAF media officer Sherif Ahmed told FilGoal.com.
They did not disclose a reason for their decision. I think they pulled out of the competition due to financial troubles.
Al-Tahrir reached the Champions League round of 32 in a similar fashion.
They were due to face Kenya s Tusker but the latter were excluded from the competition due to the country s failure to fulfill financial obligations towards CAF.
Ahly assistant coach Hossam Al-Badri said there will be changes in the Red Devils match schedule for the upcoming period.
We won t play any competitive match until facing Tersana in the Egyptian League on March 20, he told FilGoal.com.
