Ahli will kick off their CAF Champions League campaign against Al-Tahrir of Eritrea on Friday March 21st, Ahli's official site said on Monday. The Five-time champions, who were given a preliminary round bye, will play the first leg of the last 32 phase in Cairo. Tahrir were through to the last 32 after their preliminary round opponents Tusker of Kenya were eliminated by CAF for 'failing to fulfill their financial obligations to the Confederation'. Ahli missed the opportunity of winning Africa's top club competition for an unprecedented third successive time last season, when they lost to Tunisia's Etoile Sahel in the final.
League runners-up Zamalek Zamalek's Tough Test In the same competition, Egyptian league runners-up Zamalek are likely to set up a crunch last 32 confrontation with Ivorian giants Africa Sport. The Whites registered a preliminary round first-leg 2-1 away win over Rwanda's APR, while Africa Sport managed a goalless draw at Tonnerre d'Abomey FC of Benin. Zamalek were ousted from the last 32 phase of last year's competition by Sudanese champions Hilal.
