CAIRO: The liberal Free Egyptians Party named their chairman Ahmed Said as the new head of its parliamentary bloc on Wednesday, replacing Mohamed Abu Hamed, following the latter's resignation, also as the Vice President of the Party, however a statement by the Party said that Abu Hamed will continue to be a member of the board. Abu Hamed justified his decision to resign from both posts, during a meeting with the board of the Free Egyptians Party, saying he wants, as a member of member of the parliament's People's Assembly to concentrate on the legislative and oversight role in the parliament. Ahmed Khairy, a member of the Political Bureau of the Party and the official spokesman of the party, said that the resignation of Abu Hamed, is due to preoccupation with his legislative role in the parliament, in addition to his association with many political and revolutionary movements, and that he wants to be more communicative with the residents of his Constituency (Qasr El Nil, Down Town, Abdeen and Zamalek ) areas.
