DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates official WAM news agency and Libya's LNA news agency are looking to ink a media partnership and news exchange, WAM reported this week. The move, said WAM Executive Director Jamal Nasser al-Suwaidar would help create a broader news reach for the Gulf and North Africa coverage of events unfolding. Suwaider was in Libya this week with the Emirate's Foreign Affairs Minister Anwar Mohamed Gargash, to discuss boosting the two countries' diplomatic and cultural relationship. According to WAM, the two news agencies are looking for a model that can enable the “delivering [of] diverse packages of news services.” “The two sides concurred on the importance of providing assistance and support for correspondents in both countries,” wrote WAM. LNA said was excited about the possibilities with the two countries, telling Bikyamasr.com in a written correspondence that “we are hopeful that this partnership will help increase the news content that we can provide to our readers on a daily basis.” Suwaider invited the LNA management to visit WAM and familiarize themselves “with the diverse news services it provides to customers.” No official deal or agreement has been announced.
