DUBAI: Iran's Press TV has accused Qatari Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani of making a secret visit to Israel. The media outlet said they have obtained a video showing the Emir in Israel shaking hands with Kadima leader Tzipi Livni. Qatar and Israel officially have no political relationship, but Doha has been reportedly known to have assisted Palestinian groups in the West Bank. The Qatari Emir and his delegation also met several high-ranking Israeli officials, Press TV reported. According to the report, which no other outlet has confirmed as of Thursday morning, the two sides reportedly inked a new gas export contract and having Qatar's textbooks written by Israeli experts. “Sheikh Hamad reportedly stressed the significance of political relations between the two sides. “Livni informed Qatar of its important role in talks between Arabs and Israel,” said the report. Qatar has been discussing a new gas deal with Jordan, and one media expert in Doha told Bikyamasr.com that he believes the video is actually a meeting that took place in the Jordanian capital, Amman. “Qatar and Israel have common viewpoints regarding Iran's nuclear program. Doha has repeatedly supported Tel Aviv against Iran. Qatar would also be able to assist Israel in the event of a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities,” reported the Iranian broadcaster.
