Huawei -a global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider- will be looking to maintain its leadership position in the LTE space while collaborating with regional industry executives during this week's LTE MENA 2012 forum to be held in the Westin Hotel, Dubai, from April 29-30. Coming back once again as the region's only dedicated LTE event, Huawei is proud to be the Diamond Sponsor of this year's forum. Leo Xu, Vice President of Huawei Middle East, believes that today's Long Term Evolution (LTE) technologies have the potential to facilitate an historic expansion of the Middle East's communications platforms—which would in turn add value to a diversity of industries from consumer electronics to e-government, e-education, and e-transportation, amongst others. The number of broadband lines in the MENA region is anticipated to reach more than 150 million by 2015, with analysts projecting that by 2016 there could be upwards of 18 million LTE subscriptions in the Middle East alone. During this year's conference, Huawei experts will be outlining a series of new LTE architectural options for regional operators, as well as directives that can guide the establishment of a stronger LTE device ecosystem in the region. Huawei will be leading such talks through two separate keynote presentations in addition to spearheading a technical panel for operators, as AMEinfo stated. Throughout the conference Huawei will also have on display its latest wireless network solutions, plus its recently unveiled LTE-compatible smartphone, modem and router devices. Huawei's latest Green Site Energy Solution will also be showcased for the first time ever in the Middle East, aimed at helping telecom operators more efficiently deploy telecom technologies while contributing to national priorities of supporting low-carbon, land-saving ICT infrastructure. "This last year was incredibly exciting for the region, having had the first LTE deployments to date and with a number of other operators having already started on network deployment or stating their enthusiasm for the technology," comments Xu. "Right now Huawei is focused on working with industry partners to create successful business cases for deploying LTE, understanding the throng of financial and technical parameters that influence operator decisions on how 4G/LTE services can be packaged for their home markets." From the start Huawei has featured prominently when it comes to LTE deployment partnerships in the Middle East. The company worked with top operators to deploy the region's first ever LTE commercial networks, and has already linked with additional operators across the GCC on other LTE-related projects. As part of its broadband strategy, Huawei has become the world's largest contributor to LTE standards and patents whilst gaining the lead in global LTE commercialization as the top ranked brand worldwide with more than 50% market share. Just last month Huawei celebrated the release of its Beyond LTE technology, which is anticipated to raise industry benchmarks by significantly increasing peak rates that are over 20 times faster than previous commercial LTE networks. Huawei is also making a significant impact in the LTE device market. The company has for instance, been responsible for the launch of the world's first TD-LTE wireless broadband router, the world's first TD-LTE multi-mode Mobile WiFi, and for unveiling several premium smartphones that are LTE-compatible.
