Egyptian Minister of Industry and Transport Kamel Al-Wazir on Monday highlighted the major benefits of Egypt's automotive manufacturing incentives programme, which he said serves the interests of the state, manufacturers and consumers, noting its positive impact on all carmakers in Egypt, including Japanese firms such as Nissan. During his meeting with Japanese Ambassador to Cairo IWAI Fumio Al Wazir discussed ways to boost cooperation between El-Araby Group factories and Japanese companies in the home appliances sector. Minister Al-Wazir stressed the importance of a protocol signed between the Productivity and Vocational Training Department and the Education Development Fund of the Cabinet, supported by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). The protocol aims to support the development of technical and technological education in Egypt, and to provide trained and qualified technical staff to meet local and international labour market needs, particularly in electronics and green energy technologies. The two sides also reviewed ongoing cooperation in the implementation of the first phase of Cairo Metro's fourth line, extending 19 km from 6th of October City to Fustat with 17 stations. The project is being carried out in cooperation with Japan's Mitsubishi Corporation, which is responsible for electromechanical works, the depot, and rolling stock. The first phase will include 23 trains, with the first scheduled to arrive in Egypt in May 2026, followed by the remainder according to the agreed timetable.
