Egypt's East Port Said Port received Qatari humanitarian aid shipments for Gaza, as Cairo and Doha stepped up coordination to ease the enclave's crisis, the Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) said in a statement on Thursday. The shipments, which include 95 containers carrying 29,200 relief tents, were delivered under joint Egyptian-Qatari efforts to support civilians in Gaza. Additional consignments expected in the coming weeks will bring the total to over 87,000 tents, enough to shelter more than 250,000 people, said Qatari Deputy Ambassador Maryam Ahmed Al-Shibi. SCZONE Deputy Chairman Mohamed Ahmed Mahmoud, praised Egypt–Qatar cooperation, saying the authority continues to facilitate humanitarian shipments through its ports, particularly Al-Arish, which has already handled over 30 aid vessels carrying some 85,000 tons of supplies, as well as hospital ships treating the injured. He added that the SCZONE, acting on directives from Egypt's political leadership, has streamlined customs and docking procedures to accelerate aid deliveries through the Rafah crossing into Gaza. Ambassador Al-Shibi thanked Egyptian authorities for their support, highlighting the newly established land bridge linking Qatar and Gaza via Egypt as a vital route for humanitarian supplies. Port Said Governor Mohab Habashi said all government agencies are working in full coordination to back relief efforts, reaffirming the strength of Egyptian-Qatari ties and their shared commitment to assisting Palestinians.
