Egypt to issue commemorative coins ahead of Grand Egyptian Museum opening

Egypt's Cabinet has approved on Wednesday the issuance of commemorative gold and silver coins to mark the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
The coins, which will not enter general circulation, will be available in denominations of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50, and 100 Egyptian pounds. The move comes ahead of the museum's inauguration, scheduled for 1 November.
The coins are part of Egypt's efforts to honour its cultural heritage and spotlight the Grand Egyptian Museum on the global stage.
