Egypt's Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has categorically denied releasing any new promotional films for the Grand Egyptian Museum's (GEM) opening ceremony, scheduled for November 1, 2025, according to a Cabinet statement. The ministry clarified that a short video recently circulated on social media — featuring prominent Egyptian and international figures — is not the official promotional content for the event. The announcement added that the ministry stressed the video was neither produced nor directed by the ministry or United Media Services, the official partner responsible for promoting the ceremony. It described the circulated content as fake, constituting a clear violation of intellectual property and public performance rights, adding that the matter will be reported to relevant authorities for legal action. The ministry urged the public, social media users, and media outlets to verify information and avoid sharing unverified content, confirming that official announcements will be issued by the competent authorities at the appropriate time.
