Published in Bikya Masr on 09 - 02 - 2012

DUBAI: Huawei, a global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, launched its first intuitive premium range smartphone, Honor U8860 with an Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system, for the Saudi market in Riyadh.
Huawei presented the Honor with an exclusive deal with STC, the integrated telecommunication services provider in the Kingdom. This is Huawei's first agreement with the network operator in the Kingdom.
The Honor is very easy-to-use, has an intuitive interface, high resolution screen, enjoys a long battery life and comes with the Smart Data Traffic Manager, which enables easy management of the phone's data usage.
STC is offering free HonorU8860 handsets which comes with 120 MB data usage, 100 free minutes of call time, 100 free minutes of video calls, 100 free SMS texts and 100 free MMS messages. This represents considerable value for a smartphone of this technological sophistication. The Honor is available for customers exclusively through STC.
“We are delighted to present the Honor, our first smartphone in the Saudi market with a network operator. This very attractive offer from STC allows people to have a state-of-the-art smartphone in their hands in an extremely affordable deal. The Honor has been extremely popular wherever we have launched it and we expect a similar level of demand here in Saudi Arabia among new customers and those already familiar with our other devices,” said Mr. Dai Sheng Wei, President of Huawei Device in the Middle East.
Mr. Dai added, “This is the first partnership for Huawei Devices and STC and we are very pleased to have agreed what we might call a “not-to-be-missed offer”.”
Eng. Faisal Bin Saeed Al Saber, the General Manager Marketing at STC described the relationship between STC and Huawei as, “a strategic partnership that provides advanced and high-end solutions to customers by offering them the latest premium smartphones”.
Huawei Honor comes with Android 2.3.5 Gingerbread operating system, 16M 16:9 true color high-definition (HD) 4-inch FWVGA capacitive touch screen, 1.4 GHz processor, an 8-megapixel HDR-enabled camera and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera, a sleek 10.9 mm-thin body and weighs just 140g.
It also has a 1,900 MAh battery which enjoys the longest battery life among smartphones in the 4-inch screen range. This gives up to 3 days normal usage on a single charge, freeing consumers from the inconvenience of searching for an electricity source.
Honor also features an exclusive Huawei user interface which is easier to customize and manage, a dynamic weather widget, as well as a Gyroscope which enables a better gaming experience. The smartphone is DLNA-certified which ensures interoperability with other DLNA-certified devices such as digital cameras, game consoles and TVs. This makes it easier for consumers to share their digital photos, music and videos between different DLNA-certified devices. It is compatible with the major social networks Facebook, Google+, YouTube, Flickr and Twitter.
